Character Scotland’s mission is to inspire purpose and a way of being in all young people and we do this primarily through encouraging and supporting schools to participate in our ‘Inspiring Purpose’ programme. We have years of anecdotal teacher and pupil feedback that supports our passionate belief in the importance of supporting young people’s social-emotional, noncognitive development and we are in an exciting phase of our work, in partnership with leading social scientists from Montclair State University USA, where we are able to investigate our programme effect in detail.

Our colleague Dr Jennifer Brown Urban from the Department of Family and Child Studies at Montclair State University mentions our work in this interesting article about measuring and developing students' non-cognitive skills in the USA.
